Prayer
Just more random thoughts, this time about Christianity and the Judeo-Christian God (BTW, what we believe to be the only god).
First off, we will answer the common question,
“Does prayer work?” Yes. (that was easy)
Q: But how does one pray?
A: (this is what we think)
1) Be polite, do not demand or insist; remember who you are making a request to, if something is God's will he will do it, if not you probably are wasting your time —— However, do not assume either to be the case, one can not always be certain either way, and it is possible (at least we think) that God may give certain things a second thought, if a person or enough people are requesting it (maybe?).
2) Do not be selfish, what we mean is that it is okay to pray for yourself and things you need, but do not limit prayer to just things about you or your immediate circle of friends and family. Pray for others; people you know, do not know, people you see in public, people on TV, in the news, YouTube, singers, actors, … especially the people who seem lost (you get the point 😉). Everyone can use a little help from God, regardless of whether you or they think so.
For example: We like watching random music videos on YouTube, and as you can imagine, we see things that are obviously not what a person with salvation should be doing. Do we sneer and say “let them burn”? Or take a few seconds to say, “God help them. If it is your will?” You do not have to spend any more time than that to pray for someone who is obviously in need. Then look for something else to watch.
Q: Are you serious?!
A: Yes.
Q: Do you think that actually would work?
A: Possibly, why not? Maybe the reason we found that particular video was because that person needed someone to pray for them. — God does work in mysterious ways, you know?
Q: But if a person is hopeless, why should I pray for them?
A: Are you absolutely certain they are beyond redemption? Without any doubt? Regardless of how God and Jesus may try to reach them?
We do not know about you, but there would have been people who would have thought that about us. — and it took a while (still is), but ….
Q: What if God says he does not want a particular person?
A: Well, if it is actually God saying it, we suppose that is that then.
